Hand-Forged for Jewels on Main | A Collaboration of Craft and Place

In the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, the sound of hammer and flame marks the beginning of something rare. This week inside the Sterling Roots Studio, third-generation silversmith Emily Dicob begins an exclusive collaboration with Jewels on Main, a fine jewelry gallery in Breckenridge, Colorado, known for its devotion to artisan craftsmanship.

What begins as flat sheets of sterling silver is transformed through skill and patience — sawed, folded, and shaped using traditional silversmithing tools. Each motion speaks to generations of inherited craft: the measured cut of a coping saw, the shaping against forming stakes, the heat of the torch folding back the pure silver in rhythmic precision. The final stages bring refinement — grinding, polishing, and the soft oxidation of liver of sulphur — revealing depth, tone, and texture that echo the landscapes that inspire them.

This collaboration bridges two worlds — the rugged foothills of Northern New York and the alpine artistry of Breckenridge — both places defined by nature, tradition, and the enduring beauty of work forged by hand.

Each creation tells a story of balance between raw material and refined design, a meeting of craftsmanship and mountain air.

Rooted in tradition. Forged by hand. Jewelry built to tell your story.
