This one-of-a-kind 14K gold cuff is built with disciplined restraint and material authority. The bracelet is formed as a low dome structure that carries visual strength while maintaining refined proportion across the wrist. Subtle hammer facets along the crest of the dome introduce controlled light across the gold surface, giving the piece quiet dimensional movement. Produced as a singular studio work, this cuff represents a definitive example of Sterling Roots’ hand-forged gold metalwork and will not be recreated.

Architectural Form & Presence

The cuff is formed with a low dome profile that establishes structure without excessive height. This controlled curvature allows the bracelet to sit with presence while remaining balanced and comfortable on the wrist.

The dome form creates a natural visual center line along the top of the bracelet, guiding the eye across the full span of the cuff. From that central crest, the bracelet gradually tapers toward the ends. This taper serves both structural and ergonomic purposes—reducing visual mass at the edges while allowing the cuff to rest naturally against the wrist.

The resulting form is architectural yet restrained: a continuous gold surface with measured proportion and balanced visual weight.

Material Composition & Visual Impact

The cuff is forged entirely from solid 14K gold. Along the highest line of the dome, a series of small hammer facets create a subtle ridge of reflected light across the surface.

These facets introduce texture without interrupting the clarity of the gold form. As the bracelet moves with the wrist, the facets produce shifting highlights that emphasize the curvature of the dome.

The gold surface remains clean and uninterrupted beyond this central facet line, allowing the material itself—its tone, weight, and structure—to carry the visual authority of the piece.

Bench Practice & Studio Discipline

This cuff was developed through direct bench work using traditional silversmithing and goldsmithing tools in the Sterling Roots studio in the Adirondack Mountains. The dome structure was formed through controlled forging and shaping, allowing the gold to take its final curvature through disciplined metalwork.

Hammer facets along the crest were applied intentionally to follow the centerline of the dome, reinforcing both the structure and the visual rhythm of the bracelet. The tapered ends were refined during final shaping to ensure the cuff sits comfortably while maintaining structural balance.

The result reflects measured bench practice: controlled forging, clean shaping, and deliberate surface work carried out through traditional techniques.
