This one-of-a-kind sterling silver cuff is defined by its substantial weight and structured surface, anchored by a solid 18K gold bar set horizontally through the center of the bracelet. The composition is direct and architectural—broad silver form, disciplined stamped texture, and a singular gold element that establishes visual authority. Produced as a singular studio work, this cuff will not be recreated.

Architectural Form & Presence

The cuff is formed from a wide, heavy sterling silver base designed to carry both physical and visual weight across the wrist. Its broad surface creates a strong horizontal footprint, allowing the design to read clearly from edge to edge.

A continuous 18K gold bar runs horizontally along the centerline of the cuff, reinforcing the structure and anchoring the composition. This linear element divides the surface with precision, creating a defined visual axis that stabilizes the overall form.

The bracelet maintains a balanced curvature to sit securely on the wrist, with the width and weight working together to create a grounded, substantial presence.

Material Composition & Visual Impact

The cuff combines oxidized sterling silver with a solid 18K gold bar integrated into the surface of the piece. The silver body is hand stamped, introducing a controlled pattern that gives the surface depth and texture.

Oxidation settles into the stamped impressions, increasing contrast and allowing the pattern to read with clarity across the full width of the cuff. Against this textured field, the 18K gold bar presents as a clean, uninterrupted line—smooth, warm, and visually distinct.

This contrast between textured silver and solid gold establishes a clear material hierarchy: patterned depth beneath a singular, refined gold structure.

Bench Practice & Studio Discipline

This cuff was developed through direct hand-forged bench work using traditional silversmithing and goldsmithing tools in the Sterling Roots studio in the Adirondack Mountains. The sterling silver base was formed and stamped by hand, with each impression placed to maintain consistency across the surface.

The 18K gold bar was fabricated and integrated into the cuff with precise alignment along the centerline, requiring careful planning to ensure structural integrity and visual balance. Final shaping refined the curvature of the cuff to match the intended wrist fit.

The piece reflects disciplined metalwork: controlled surface development, precise material integration, and structural clarity achieved through traditional bench techniques.
