Genuine Amethyst & Hummingbird Hand-Forged Sterling Silver Pendant

Hand-forged in the Adirondack foothills, this one-of-a-kind sterling silver pendant features a freeform genuine amethyst set within a gallery bezel. A sterling silver hummingbird and solid silver bead accents gather toward the upper right of the stone, creating an asymmetrical composition inspired by movement in the natural world.

The amethyst retains slight natural inclusions—visible characteristics formed within the stone that reinforce its individuality rather than detract from it.

Form & Wearability

Measuring approximately 1.5 inches, the pendant balances a substantial natural stone with detailed silverwork in a versatile scale.

The freeform amethyst is framed by a gallery bezel, while the hummingbird and solid sterling silver beads create dimension toward the upper right edge. Their asymmetrical placement allows the natural shape of the stone to guide the overall composition.

A larger sterling silver bail provides additional room for pairing the pendant with more substantial chains.

Material & Studio Practice

This artisan sterling silver pendant is built individually at the Sterling Roots bench using traditional silversmithing tools and hands-on fabrication techniques.

The freeform amethyst is individually fitted within its gallery bezel before the hummingbird and solid silver bead details are positioned along the setting. The larger bail is incorporated to complement the proportions of the pendant and accommodate heavier chain styles.

Because the amethyst is a natural stone, slight inclusions are present within the cabochon. These naturally occurring characteristics are part of this individual stone and make the finished pendant distinctly one of a kind.
