This one-of-a-kind ring features an oval black tourmaline cabochon set in hand-forged sterling silver. The deep black stone is elevated within a gallery bezel, adding dimension and visible silverwork around the setting while maintaining a clean, understated profile. A simple half-round sterling silver shank keeps the construction restrained, allowing the black tourmaline and gallery setting to remain the focus.

Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack studio, this ring pairs a strong natural stone with straightforward, traditional silversmithing.

Form & Proportion

The oval black tourmaline creates a classic focal point at the top of the ring. Rather than sitting within a low-profile setting, the gallery bezel raises and frames the cabochon, giving the piece additional depth when viewed from the side.

A single half-round sterling silver shank balances the dimensional setting with a clean, comfortable band.

Materials & Method

Forged from solid sterling silver, the shank and setting are individually formed and assembled at the bench. The gallery bezel is built to securely hold the oval black tourmaline while introducing architectural detail beneath and around the stone.

The simple half-round shank is hand-formed and refined using traditional silversmithing techniques, creating a durable foundation without unnecessary ornamentation.
