This one-of-a-kind pendant features an oval blue cat’s eye cabochon set in hand-forged sterling silver, built in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools. A gallery bezel gives the stone a dimensional setting, while a substantial beaded perimeter creates texture and weight around its oval form. An additional sterling silver bead along one side introduces an intentionally asymmetrical accent. Oxidized to reveal the depth of the metalwork, this pendant balances rich blue color with substantial heirloom quality silver.
Form & Proportion
Measuring approximately 1.5 inches in length, the pendant has a compact but substantial profile. The oval stone creates a clean central form, surrounded by larger sterling silver beads that give the perimeter a pronounced three-dimensional quality.
A single additional bead positioned along one side breaks the symmetry of the design, adding a small sculptural detail to the otherwise balanced composition.
Materials & Method
Built from solid sterling silver, the pendant is formed, assembled, and refined entirely at the bench. The oval cat’s eye is secured within a gallery bezel, adding depth beneath the stone while allowing the setting itself to become part of the design.
The beaded perimeter and asymmetrical accent are individually assembled through disciplined tool work and traditional silversmithing techniques. Oxidation settles into the recessed areas between the beads and within the gallery setting, emphasizing the dimensional construction.
