Two distinct chainmaking techniques come together in this hand-forged sterling silver bracelet, built by Shane at the Sterling Roots studio. Sections of tightly woven 18-gauge Byzantine chain alternate with our original X's and O's links, creating a substantial bracelet defined by structure, movement, and detailed silverwork.

Finished with a hand-forged sterling silver clasp, this bracelet is built for a wrist circumference of approximately 6.75–7.25 inches.

Scale & Substance

This bracelet combines the dense, interwoven structure of Byzantine chainmaille with the open geometry of our original X's and O's links.

The alternating construction creates a balanced rhythm of compact and open forms throughout the chain. Each section contributes its own texture and dimension while maintaining the flexibility expected of a traditionally constructed chain link bracelet.

Material & Chain Character

Built entirely from solid sterling silver, the bracelet emphasizes the relationship between two distinct link structures.

The 18-gauge Byzantine sections feature closely interconnected rings that create a dimensional woven pattern. Separating these sections are our original X's and O's links, introducing larger forms and a contrasting visual rhythm.

An oxidized finish settles into the recessed areas of both link styles, while the high-polish surfaces emphasize their individual shapes and connections.

Studio Process

Hand-forged by Shane at the Sterling Roots studio, this bracelet reflects the precision and discipline of traditional chainmaking.

The Byzantine sections are constructed from individually connected 18-gauge sterling silver rings, while the original X's and O's links are formed and incorporated between the woven sections.

A hand-forged sterling silver clasp completes the construction. The bracelet is then oxidized and polished to bring definition to the individual links and reveal the depth of the assembled chain.
