This one-of-a-kind pendant features a freeform rose-cut Crazy Lace Agate set in hand-forged sterling silver. The naturally patterned stone is secured within a clean straight bezel and surrounded by a finely twisted sterling silver rope border, adding texture and definition around its irregular form. A substantial bail completes the pendant, providing room to pair it with a variety of chains.
Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools, the silver is oxidized to emphasize the twisted rope detail and construction surrounding the stone.
Form & Proportion
Measuring approximately 1.25 inches, the pendant follows the freeform shape of the Crazy Lace Agate rather than forcing the stone into a symmetrical profile. Its rose-cut surface adds dimension, while the fine twisted rope border creates a defined perimeter around the cabochon.
The larger bail adds visual weight at the top and balances the detailed border surrounding the stone.
Materials & Method
The Crazy Lace Agate is secured within a hand-formed straight bezel and framed with finely twisted sterling silver rope wire. Each component is formed and assembled at the bench using traditional silversmithing techniques.
An oxidized finish settles into the recesses of the twisted wire and surrounding silverwork, increasing the contrast and making the fine rope texture more visible.
