This one-of-a-kind sterling silver pendant is built around contrast—solid metal and open space, textured surfaces and polished stone. A hand-sawn feather silhouette is cut from a rectangular sterling silver panel, allowing negative space to become an integral part of the design. A small black onyx accent completes the composition with understated balance.

Scale & Substance

Measuring approximately 2.5 inches in length, this pendant offers a bold vertical presence while remaining clean and balanced in its design. The rectangular form creates a modern architectural silhouette, while the open feather introduces lightness and visual movement.

Its generous scale allows the textures and hand-cut details to be fully appreciated.

Stone & Material Character

The pendant begins with a rectangular sterling silver panel featuring a fused sterling silver dust texture across its surface. This textured finish creates depth and subtle variation, contrasting with the crisp edges of the hand-sawn feather silhouette.

A small round black onyx cabochon is positioned in the upper corner of the pendant and secured in a scalloped bezel. The deep black stone provides a striking focal point against the textured silver, while the oxidized finish enhances every forged and sawn detail throughout the piece.

Studio Process

This pendant is bench-forged silver, constructed through traditional silversmithing techniques at the studio bench. Sterling silver dust is carefully fused onto the surface to create a permanent textured finish before the feather silhouette is meticulously hand sawn from the metal.

The black onyx is individually set in a handcrafted scalloped bezel and integrated into the composition to complement the balance of the openwork design. Every edge is refined by hand, resulting in a pendant that celebrates both precision and intentional craftsmanship.
