This one-of-a-kind sterling silver statement necklace is built around a hand-forged flowering branch composition spanning five inches across the neckline. Sculptural flowers emerge asymmetrically along the branch, each centered with turquoise and positioned to create movement and structural rhythm throughout the piece. The necklace extends beyond the centerpiece through a combination of forged hoops, turquoise accents, and Sterling Roots’ folded glory hand-forged chain. Produced as a singular studio work, this necklace will not be recreated.

Architectural Form & Presence

The necklace is anchored by a substantial five-inch branch structure that establishes the primary visual presence of the piece. The branch extends laterally across the neckline with an asymmetrical arrangement of forged flowers, creating directional movement while maintaining overall balance.

Rather than relying on strict symmetry, the composition distributes visual weight through variation in spacing, bloom placement, and branch curvature. This creates a natural architectural flow across the collar line while preserving structural clarity.

Beyond the centerpiece, forged hoop elements and turquoise accents transition into the folded glory chain structure along the sides and back of the necklace. This continuation of forged elements ensures the piece maintains visual continuity throughout its full 22-inch length rather than concentrating all detail at the front.

The result is a necklace with substantial presence, layered structure, and continuous movement from clasp to centerpiece.

Material Composition & Visual Impact

The necklace is forged from sterling silver and features turquoise set at the centers of the hand-forged flowers as well as throughout the chain structure. The turquoise introduces focused points of color against the oxidized silver framework, establishing contrast without overpowering the composition.

Each flower is individually forged and shaped, allowing subtle dimensional variation throughout the branch structure. The organic curvature of the branch contrasts with the geometric rhythm of the forged hoops and folded glory chain, creating a layered visual cadence across the necklace.

Oxidation deepens the silver surface and increases separation between forged textures, floral contours, and stone settings. The combined effect is structural rather than ornamental: silver framework, measured turquoise placement, and controlled asymmetry working together as a unified composition.

Bench Practice & Studio Discipline

This necklace was developed through direct hand-forged bench work using traditional silversmithing tools in the Sterling Roots studio in the Adirondack Mountains. The flowering branch centerpiece was individually forged and shaped before the floral elements were integrated into the composition.

Each flower was formed by hand and fitted with turquoise centers, requiring careful planning to maintain proportion and spacing across the branch structure. Forged hoop elements and folded glory chain links were individually fabricated and assembled to extend the architecture of the necklace beyond the centerpiece.

The handmade clasp was constructed to integrate seamlessly into the overall structure of the piece, preserving continuity throughout the full necklace.

The work reflects disciplined bench practice: controlled forging, layered assembly, precise stone integration, and structural balance achieved through traditional silversmithing techniques.
