This one-of-a-kind ring features a freeform rose-cut Crazy Lace Agate set in hand-forged sterling silver. The orange-toned stone is secured within a clean straight bezel and surrounded by a finely twisted sterling silver rope border that follows its irregular perimeter. A simple single shank balances the detailed setting, while oxidation brings depth and definition to the silverwork.
Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools, this ring pairs the intricate natural pattern of Crazy Lace Agate with enduring heirloom quality silver.
Form & Proportion
The freeform shape of the Crazy Lace Agate determines the profile of the ring, giving the setting an organic form rather than a standardized outline. Its rose-cut surface adds dimension, while the warm orange coloration provides the primary visual presence.
The twisted rope border closely follows the perimeter of the stone, creating a textured frame before transitioning into the straightforward single shank.
Materials & Method
The Crazy Lace Agate is individually fitted within a hand-formed straight bezel and framed with twisted sterling silver rope wire. Each element is formed, fitted, soldered, and refined at the bench using traditional silversmithing techniques.
The finished silver is oxidized to darken the recessed areas of the setting, emphasizing the fine twists within the rope border and the details of the hand-built construction.
