This one-of-a-kind pendant features a pink and blue Mojave turquoise heart set in hand-forged sterling silver. Rather than hanging in the traditional orientation, the heart is suspended from its point, turning the familiar shape upside down. A clean straight bezel frames the stone, while a round sterling silver wire accent follows one edge of the heart before sweeping upward to connect with the larger bail.
Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools, the pendant is oxidized to bring definition to the wirework and setting.
Form & Proportion
Measuring approximately 1.25 inches, the heart has a compact but distinctive profile. Suspending the stone from its pointed end changes the balance of the familiar heart silhouette and creates an unexpected orientation when worn.
The round wire accent travels along one edge of the setting and continues upward toward the bail, visually connecting the stone to its suspension point and adding movement to the otherwise minimal form.
Materials & Method
The pink and blue Mojave turquoise heart is individually fitted within a hand-formed straight sterling silver bezel. A round sterling silver wire accent is shaped along one side of the setting and extended upward to meet the larger bail.
Each component is formed, fitted, soldered, and refined at the bench using traditional silversmithing techniques. The finished silver is oxidized to emphasize the dimensional construction and details within the metalwork.
