This one-of-a-kind ring features a rectangular, flat-topped black onyx cabochon set in hand-forged sterling silver, built in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools. Positioned in an east-west orientation, the stone is framed by a scalloped bezel that adds subtle texture while emphasizing the bold geometry of the polished onyx. Formed at the bench through disciplined tool work, this piece reflects the enduring character of heirloom quality silver.
Form & Proportion
The horizontal east-west orientation gives the ring a broad, architectural presence across the hand. A split double shank creates visual balance while providing a substantial yet comfortable foundation beneath the setting. The crisp rectangular form of the flat-topped cabochon contrasts beautifully with the scalloped bezel, creating a design that is both bold and refined.
Materials & Method
Forged from solid sterling silver, the ring is shaped and refined entirely within the studio. The scalloped bezel securely frames the black onyx while introducing handcrafted detail around the clean lines of the stone. Every element is bench-built using traditional silversmithing techniques, resulting in hand-forged sterling silver jewelry designed for durability and long-term wear.
