This one-of-a-kind ring features an elongated striped agate set in hand-forged sterling silver. The cabochon carries a striking natural progression of color, beginning with pronounced white striations that transition through warm brown tones before deepening into black. A scalloped bezel follows the elongated form of the stone, while six individual sterling silver bands create a substantial wide shank beneath the setting.

Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack studio, this ring combines the natural pattern of agate with the weight, structure, and visible construction of traditional silversmithing.

Form & Proportion

The elongated agate creates a strong presence across the hand, with its changing bands of white, brown, and black providing the primary visual detail. Beneath the stone, six individual 16-gauge sterling silver rings are positioned side by side and soldered together to form one substantial wide band.

The repetition of the six silver bands gives the shank visual rhythm while providing a solid foundation for the larger stone.

Materials & Method

Each of the six 16-gauge sterling silver bands is individually formed before being aligned and soldered together at the bench. The striped agate is secured within a hand-formed scalloped bezel, adding subtle texture around the perimeter while allowing the stone's natural striations to remain the focus.

This layered construction creates a wide, substantial ring that retains the individual lines of the six bands rather than relying on a single sheet of silver for its width.

Collector Context

The natural transition of color within the agate is paired with an equally deliberate approach to the silverwork. Six individually formed bands give this ring its weight and structure, leaving the construction itself visible as part of the design. Built individually in our Adirondack studio, it is a singular piece for collectors drawn to substantial silver, natural pattern, and traditional hand-forged craftsmanship.
