This one-of-a-kind pendant features a richly toned sugilite set in hand-forged sterling silver, built in our Adirondack jewelry studio using traditional silversmithing tools. The rectangular stone is set east to west in a straight bezel, allowing its natural depth of color to lead the composition. Each element is shaped and assembled at the bench, resulting in a piece of hand-forged sterling silver jewelry with grounded structure and presence.
Form & Proportion
The pendant carries a dense, compact form, measuring just over one inch in length. Its horizontal orientation creates a strong, balanced line, while the slight overhand of the bezel adds subtle dimension. The scale is intentional—substantial enough to hold presence while remaining versatile for daily wear.
Materials & Method
Forged from solid sterling silver, the pendant is constructed through controlled tool work and precise assembly. Twisted wire is applied along two sides of the bezel, while smooth round wire defines the opposing edges, creating contrast in texture and line. Small sterling silver bead accents are placed along each edge, adding measured detail. An oxidized finish enhances depth and brings forward the layered structure of the metalwork.
